Downey believes that a deep respect for the home's architecture and an in-depth understanding of the client's desires and tastes is paramount.Downey is a multidisciplinary interior design studio, led by the firm's principal, Alison Downey. Downey led the interior design program at global luxury furnishings brand, RH, and prior to that was a senior designer for AD100 design firm, Jennifer Post. Downey has worked on projects globally, with a diverse array of clientele and unique project requirements.Downey offers interiors design services for ground-up new construction, renovation projects, and interior decoration services for existing spaces.Downey believes that while several things must come together to result in a successful project, a deep respect for the home's architecture and an in-depth understanding of the client's desires and tastes is paramount. We believe that one's style, lifestyle, travels, and interests can be translated through interior design, as it can be through fashion and other expressions of personal style.We bring a studied eye to every project, first seeking to understand how the home's location, architectural style, layout, and other factors including light sources and significant architectural details, will lay a foundation for the design direction. Downey then brings the appropriate design vernacular to the project to achieve a fluid experience throughout the home when it comes to color palette, use of finishes, space planning, and decoration.The spaces we create are characterized by nuanced textures, quality materials, and an effortless style deeply rooted in the principles of classical design and architecture. The goal is to achieve a timeless interior that reflects its inhabitants and is objectively beautiful in its own right.
