Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Sell Oceanfront Beach House for $23 Million

The home was snatched up within days of being listed

Ellen DeGeneres is one of the most successful talk show hosts of all time, but real estate just might be her true calling. Mere days after she and wife Portia de Rossi listed an oceanfront Carpinteria, California, mansion, the couple reportedly found a buyer who purchased the place for $23 million. And though that price is a million less than the original listing, it’s still $4.4 million more than what DeGeneres and de Rossi paid for the house in October 2017.

Makeup mogul Jamie Kern Lima and her husband, Paulo Lima, reportedly paid cash for the 6,862-square-foot contemporary pad, which has 77 feet of beach frontage and is located on the area’s most exclusive street. The three-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath home features plenty of sky-high ceilings, honey-colored hardwood floors, and incredible views of the Pacific Ocean. The open-plan living area boasts a wall of glass sliding doors to allow for seamless indoor-outdoor living, and there's also a seating area with a minimalist fireplace and a chef’s kitchen with stainless-steel appliances.

In a separate wing on the main floor are two bedrooms, each with en suite bathrooms and endless ocean views. Meanwhile, the upstairs is dedicated entirely to the master suite, which has a unique open-plan bathroom, fireplace, walk-in closet, dressing room, fitness room, and two balconies with ocean views.

The outdoor space is just as impressive. Spread across 1.13 acres are a wooden deck with a lounge area, an enclosed courtyard with fireplace, tennis court, spa, and a short path leading to the beach. There’s also a 900-square-foot guesthouse with another bedroom, bathroom, living room, wet bar, and fireplace.

This sale is just the latest in a string of real-estate moves DeGeneres and de Rossi have made recently. In May, they spent $42.5 million on a Beverly Hills mansion previously owned by Adam Levine. They also listed a villa in Hollywood for $17.95 million, bought a $27 million Bali-inspired compound in Santa Barbara, and listed another Santa Barbara house for $8.95 million.
