Ellen DeGeneres Buys Third Montecito Home in Less Than a Year for $2.9 Million

The talk show host and her wife, Portia de Rossi, also own two other properties in the Southern California area

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s real estate portfolio is getting even more impressive. The couple, known for buying and selling houses at a prolific rate, has just snagged their third Montecito, California, home in less than a year for $2.9 million, Dirt reports.

Unlike the other mansions that they own in the area, the duo’s most recent purchase is a petite 1,691-square-foot bungalow with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Situated on less than an acre of land near Montecito’s beloved Butterfly Beach, the contemporary single-level estate boasts floor-to-ceiling glass doors and large windows that overlook a sanctuary of tropical plantings scattered around the property.

Inside, the midcentury-modern home centers on a minimalist kitchen that features stainless steel appliances, sleek cherry wood cabinetry, and stone countertops. The cooking area opens up to a sun-drenched living room and an outdoor courtyard that includes a fire pit, a serene fountain, and a dining area for entertaining.

Down the hall, the main suite is privately tucked away and features large sliding doors that lead to a spacious patio. The bedroom offers a walk-in closet and bathroom with access to another outdoor area. There is also a second room to accommodate guests.

Though the backyard doesn’t have a swimming pool, there is ample space to build one or even a guesthouse. In addition to the expansive lot, the place is safely equipped with soundproof acoustic fencing to reduce any outside noise.

The news of DeGeneres and de Rossi’s latest purchase comes less than a month after the pair bought back the historic Rancho San Leandro in Montecito, which they originally sold in 2018. The two also picked up a four-acre property in the area for a reported $49 million last September.
