Hunger Games Star Josh Hutcherson Picks Up $1.9 Million House in Silver Lake

The actor owns at least two other properties in Los Angeles, including the former home of the late Heath Ledger

Josh Hutcherson was willing to shell out more than the asking price for his new home in L.A.’s Silver Lake area. The Hunger Games actor paid $1.9 million to lock it in, a considerable $300,000 more than the roughly $1.6 million asking price of the newly remodeled house. According to Variety, the home was originally built in the mid-1920s and was marketed as being Spanish Revival style, with a white stucco exterior and arched doorways throughout, though there are other influences present in the abode.

The three-story home spans 1,950 square feet and includes three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, with ample backyard and outdoor space. A fenced courtyard out front opens onto a cozy vestibule that leads into three interconnected common living areas: a living room, a dining room, and a den. The airy living room boasts a stately, traditional-looking gray fireplace and French doors that open onto the front courtyard. The dining area is brightened by a large, square picture window, and the den features an entire wall of glass sliders that open out onto a spacious deck with separate outdoor dining and sitting areas. The kitchen, located on the other side of the dining area, opposite the den, is charming, with all-white cabinetry and patterned floor tiles.

Also on the ground floor is one of the three bedrooms, which features direct access to the property’s lush green yard. Upstairs, each of the two other bedrooms opens onto a private deck with views of the Silver Lake Reservoir beyond. Out back, wooden steps lead down from the spacious deck to a terraced yard with plenty of mature trees, shaped by rustic stone retaining walls.

In addition to his newly acquired home, Hutcherson reportedly owns at least two other Los Angeles–area properties, including one Hollywood Hills home that previously belonged to the late Heath Ledger. Nicknamed the Tree House due to its high perch and thick sycamore grove, the two-bedroom, two-bathroom house also previously belonged to Ellen DeGeneres. Hutcherson bought it from Heath Ledger’s estate in 2012 for $2.5 million.
