Jim Carrey Drops Price of His Longtime LA Home to $26.5 Million

The actor originally listed his ranch-style residence of nearly 30 years last February for $28.9 million

It seems that Jim Carrey is letting go of the past. The Golden Globe winner resided in a 1951-built ranch-style house in LA’s Brentwood neighborhood for just about three decades before listing it last February for $28.9 million. Carrey bought the 2-acre property in 1994, a particularly busy year for the actor that saw him leading three still-iconic comedies: Ace Ventura: Pet DetectiveThe Mask, and Dumb and Dumber. Without any luck finding a buyer, the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind star has dropped the price of his longtime abode to $26.5 million, Mansion Global reports. Reportedly, the actor and artist is selling because he has been spending less time at the property.

Nestled behind over 280 feet of hedges and a tall red brick gate with a stately white door, the 2-acre property hosts a tennis court, a stony swimming pool complete with a waterfall, a gazebo, a pool house equipped with a sauna and steam room, a quaint vegetable garden, a yoga and meditation platform, and numerous landscaped areas for lounging and entertaining—in addition to the 12,700-square-foot main house.

Inside, the five-bedroom, nine-bathroom abode features polished brick and hardwood flooring below pitched and beamed skylit ceilings, providing an airy feel throughout the contemporary interiors. In classic Hollywood fashion, the actor’s home features an Art Deco-style theater, outfitted with mohair couches, a burl wood bar, and snack area.

The Truman Show star told The Wall St. Journal that the property served as “a place of enchantment and inspiration” during his tenancy. “Every night the owls sang me lullabies and every morning I sipped my cup of joe with the hawks and hummingbirds, under a giant grandfather pine,” he said.
